What is Vinyasa?
Rather than just focusing on the posture itself like most traditional yoga disciplines, vinyasa yoga is based on the teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya who taught that the movements between each asana should be considered just as important as the postures themselves.
The transition from one asana to the next is always initiated from the breath. The breath creates the rhythm and timing that underlie the linking of the postures.
The aim is to keep the deep breathing present and body consciousness consistent throughout all movements during the practice. Improved self-esteem and self-awareness are just some of the benefits of practicing vinyasa yoga.
You can read my Flowing into the 50’s blog post for a deeper dive into my Vinyasa practice.
I certified as a vinyasa yoga teacher in 2010 and since then I have been deepening my practice and amplifying my experience and knowledge by teaching in various locations.
